A continuation…

Continuing on yesterdays topic of being Poetic….

I think it is amazing how words can grab the deepest part of your soul. Then you couple it with music and it moves you….how anyone could deny the fact that God is the creator of music is beyond me. But that is a topic for another day.

I wanted to drop some of my favorite poetic moments on you….I may try to incorporate this daily……we’ll see.

The first one comes from Michael Sweet. Michael is the singer and primary song writer for Stryper…..yes, THAT Stryper.

Verse 1
“It’s summer, it’s cold out
It’s fall and it’s dry
And in winter, it’s warm out
I don’t care to know why
Cause things around me
seemed to change
So fast, so slow, unplayed
And little scars that last forever
Tarnish as they fade”

Verse 2
“There’s mountains, there’s valleys
There’s rivers that swell
Dry oceans, deep deserts
I’ve worn them all well
Cause things around me
seemed to change
So fast, so slow, unplayed
And little scars that last forever
Tarnish as they fade”

The line I love is the “deep deserts, dry oceans” part….the whole song is contrasting off itself and is speaking to the changes in life and how things aren’t what they are “suppose” to be, but it doesn’t matter, cause all he has on his mind is God.

But my opinion is, when that lyric was written, he wrote it the way it sounds…..regardless of the fact that if you turn them around to “deep oceans, dry deserts”….it just doesn’t quite fit or jump out of the song the same way.

This, my friends, is what I am referring to. My analytic, cynicle mind doesn’t work this way. lol.

I would have been stuck on that lyric for a week…only to end up with something a quarter as powerful as what Michael has written here.
