Tragic day in my hometown….
Flight 3407 out of Newark crashed last night. There is no real good information at this point to explain what happened. The scarier part is that the plane crashed into a home and killed a man who was literally unsuspecting of anything.
50 souls were stolen last night at 10:20pm. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families who lost their Dad, Mom, son, daughter, aunt, uncle……
Which leads me to my next exerp. Life is fleeting, no man is promised tomorrow. Everything can be going as planned with no cares, worries or problems,…and the next minute, your plane could be dropping out of the sky.
Switchfoot wrote one of the greatest lines regarding sin and forgiveness that I have ever heard….
“Maybe redemption has stories to tell
Maybe forgiveness is right where you fell
Where can you run to escape from yourself?
Where you gonna go?”
Christians today have this idea that God is this mean Dad like figure that when you make a mistake, he can’t even look at you for a week.
How different the truth is.
God knows you. He knows me….He knows we are nothing more than dumb sheep. What a different outlook on our faith we and the world would have if we knew that when we stray from the heard, He isn’t scolding us or leaving us behind…..He leaves the herd, scoops us up and says, “com’on you goof ball….get back on the path”
Think about the idea that “redemtion has stories to tell”….think about the fact that your fall and redemption can minister to someone elses issues.
And as far as those of you who struggle with guilt or conviction and are currently tip toeing around God…..
“maybe forgiveness is right where you fell…..”
That line brings me to tears sometimes.
Get up, dust yourself off, and catch up to the herd my friend. We are waiting for you.
